Ani Chenak, known as The Blood, is stunned to discover she has a twin and the prophecy declares that only the twin can save the injured guardian Stone. Ani, her telepathic canine, Kela, and Lrakiran pilot Renloret must return to Teramar to enlist the help of Taryn, the sheriff of Star Valley, to sift through twenty-five years of lies and secrets by Ani’s mother on their search.

Just as the identity of The Balance is discovered, Taryn is kidnapped by Isul Treyder, the creator of the coma device which had held Ani in an artificial coma for weeks. Renloret and Ani put the search on hold to rescue the Star Valley sheriff from the tortuous clutches of the twisted doctor.
